hello. I am currently doing weight watchers and its not really working for me. I am wondering what people have done that was successful. The last time I lost a big amount of weight was when I started smoking. Ive since quit and that has not helped my weight ... ive sort of started again. i know i know. I am currently 5'9 and 169lbs. I feel terrible about myself I want to crawl under a rock and hide. In addition to feeling terrible about myself, I have been really anxious and nervous b/c my boyfriend is in the airforce he is currently deployed and will be home in about a month. I am horribly depressed and scared that he wont be attracted to me anymore if I am on the heavier side. I think this anxiety is causing me to eat more... a sort of comfort eating. Does annyone have a particular regimen that is really working out for them or an ideas of how I could kick start my weight loss. Or do I simply just need to eat less?
Would anyone want to try to lose weight with me? we could chat over live journal or aim about what has been working and what hasnt.
thanks everyone!

After 8 years, I am FINALLY able to share one of my music videos online! :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N79vQiE7 hps
This is the only one I have left, though... ^^;
The video is set to Final Fantasy X to the song "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran. It took me a week and a half to make.
Usually whenever I make a video, I try to match up the footage so that the motion of what you see goes along with the music, and not the lyrics... sometimes it just works out to both! :D
Hope you enjoy!

Apparently a local community college is hiring two new full-time English instructor positions. I have been teaching as an adjunct for six years now and have been applying for every full-time position I could during that time. However, I now have a seven-month-old son and will probably want to have a second child in about 2.5-3 years. I'm sure it's a 4/4 load, but I would have to check.
I'm 31 so I don't want to put off children any longer; 35 is my maximum age for having a second (and last) one. I was planning on teaching one or two classes a term part-time until I had my second when I was going to take time off. But I am pretty sure that I have a good shot at one of these full-time positions. I have interviewed with this college previously and made the cut (from 100 applicants to 25) that landed me the interview. Can you guys share any experiences you have had teaching while parenting a small child or planning a family? Anything I should keep in mind while making this decision?
EDIT: Minimum salary is $38K so I could afford to put him in daycare and was eventually going to have to for the socialization aspect, but it may have to be 5 days-a-week rather than the 3 I was hoping for.

Hello, my name is Alice. I've just finished the first year of my undergraduate Sociology degree. I was born and live in Bristol, England.
I consider myself a liberal Weberian, although I am also a humanistic sympathiser and big Sociology nerd. My Sociological interests include Health and Illness, Auto/Biography, Cyborg realities and and representations of the self. I'm getting very good grades (which will be excellent once I take an essay writing class to help me focus my work) and I have just taken out a subscription to the journal Sociology, published by the British journal of Sociology.
I would like to watch and learn from the people in this community who are more experienced in the subject then myself, as well as learn from discussing.
With this introduction I would like to pose two questions:
1. Would you be interested in reading about the research experience of a young amateur researcher like myself? I would like to try and publish something, but my research if no where near good enough, but I would like to know if reading about the experience would be valuable.
2. Do any of you have careers in Sociology, if so, what do you do?
Many thanks in advance.

This is a link to a video clip called Batman Vs Batman Vs Batman Vs Batman. It’s four Batmans from different movies having a big ol fight. I enjoyed it.
I didn’t want to imbed the video, (be kind to your bandwidth) so here is a link to the blog entry I found it on.
